August 22, 2003Douglas J. Eboch's Diary of doing the festival circuit with his short film The 24 Year-Old VirginFinally, something new to report! I got notified that the film was accepted into the Palm Springs Short Film Festival. This should be a great festival for us, as it's driving distance from Los Angeles so hopefully some of the cast and crew will come. I also think it's a pretty respectable festival for short films. I may try to make this the one big blow-out festival for us and really push the publicity and promotion aspects. Don't have much information yet like when we're screening and so on, but I'm excited. My next task is to create better promotional materials for the film. For Durango and Sedona we did black and white card stock post cards, and they looked cheap compared to most others. I want to do full color glossy cards for Palm Springs, and a small poster. The festival requested some advance promotional materials with a pretty quick deadline, so I better get on that. In other news, I went down to the Yard Fest in Santa Monica. Susan Vaill was screening her short, Valette there. I met her at the Sedona film festival. Also, one of the actors from my short, David Zimmerman, had a short film, The Pool Boy, screening as well. It's a nice set up outside on the back patio/bar of a restaurant and draws a pretty good crowd, although it's not quite like a real festival. I dropped Virgin off and if they screen it, it'll be a good local opportunity for cast and crew to bring friends to a screening. Return to Diary.
