What is Lets Schmooze .com?

We're glad you asked. As our logo says, we're the web site of the Southern California Independent Film Scene. Our goal is to bring you info on the festivals, films, filmmakers, and events that make up the independent film scene in Southern California. Mostly we're doing it so we have a good excuse to blow off more responsible activities and go to the movies, but hopefully we'll also provide you with something of value in the process. We cover what people are doing, what people are seeing, but most importantly, what people are saying.

So, what will you find at letsschmooze.com?

Independent Filmmakers.
We're not interested in the people who make six or seven figure salaries to make movies. We cover the people who sacrifice to put their visions on film (even if those visions sometimes suck). And, we don't want to bring you the same canned publicity everyone else does. We want to give you a glimpse of the real struggle these filmmakers go through--the triumph and tragedy--when making movies.

The Indie Film Scene
We'll take you to the places indie film fans and filmmakers go to kick back, have fun, and talk about film. And we'll tell you what they're saying. We don't really care who's dating who or who's got an eating disorder. We do care about where to find the hottest party and how to crash it.

Independent Films
O.K., you won't find the films themselves here. But we'll tell you where to find those hidden gems that will never see the inside of a multiplex. We'll talk to the people who run the festivals and to the people that make or break films. We'll bring you behind the scenes with people who care, first and foremost, about helping unique voices find their audience.
